You know, with virtual reality, 10 maybe 15 years ago, doing things like this will require a room for computers, and hundreds of thousands dollars for the technology. And some of the obvious problems like speed, latency will (be) big even than (the problem of room and money).
We all knew there is a dream around virtual reality and augmented reality, and we definitely knew it will be a total success for kids, that will be great for education. And will be learnt by doing, using their hands, and feeling the entire link with the imaginary world.
This is sort of thing that we have been waiting for many years to get down the price, and to have educational quality to it, that will be successful to the general public.
And because it is fun, it is responsive, and it uses your hands in learning by doing, so it is a pleasure to see this finally here, we have been waiting for a long time. |

My first impression is that it is very interesting, different and innovative. As I play with it, I find it very engaging, very intuitive, and it is a great educational toy. I am very impressed by the tangible user interface and the 3D visualization, and I think together, it makes it a very revolutionary product. I like this product very much. It is exciting. It is a fun learning experience. This is a great example of commercialization, bringing research ideas from the lab into the real world.

So the great thing about wIzQubes is that, unlike in virtual reality we have to go inside another world, they bring virtual world out into your world, creating mixed or augmented reality.
I think this is really a great way for kids to learn, because it means the magic world of the computer is now in the same space as you are.
It is intuitive, the kids can understand, so I think it is a great tool for education, with all kinds of applications have yet to be discovered.

I have 2 daughters, so it turns out the elder one can babysit the younger one through the game, taking a load off my shoulders... may be that's a value proposition you should advertise to parents :-)
The cubes are very intuitive for kids. I only demonstrated it once to my elder daughter, Joy (6 years old), and she can pick it up from there. She can also instruct her younger sister, Jaz (3 years old), on how to use the cubes. I also noticed that the interaction from the cubes makes the stories much more engaging, as she can spend hours replaying the stories without feeling bored. |

I have a son (21 months now). Even he can spend 45 minutes with me on wIzQubes, though he obviously does not know how to play with it. He was always trying to stack the cubes together. The animations and sounds are fantastic. He laughed many times throughout the animation. I think his favorite story is "the three little pigs". You know how long a 21 months old boy can stay with you, right? |
